ISABELLE
SOULIERE

Isabell Souliere is from Missanabie Cree First Nation, a Mother of 5 children, and a grandmother of 6 grandchildren.

She has spent most of her time learning the plants on the land and is dedicated to learning more each day and respects the ancestral knowledge that she has gained from being on the land each day.

Isabell taught herself how to bead wrap using the peyote stitch on the Eagle Feathers she has collected while walking the land and strives to learn many new skills such as making traditional rattles. But her passion is exploring the land and harvesting many different medicines every year and passes on her knowledge with the youth and with anyone willing to learn how to identify plants on the land. She teaches medicine workshops on how to identify, harvest and prepare medicines.

Her main goal is to gain back the knowledge our people lost through assimilation and has mentored many youth such as the Wahkohtowin Guardians and First Nation Publics schools.
