Hi! I’m Annette Shisheesh residing in Attawapiskat, ON. originally from Kashechewan, ON. I lived in Attawapiskat past 20 years now. I make handmade mitts, gloves, moccasins, and I also make baby moss bags, blankets, and hats. I use commercial moose hides, pile linings, beaver and rabbit furs, cotton and flannel fabrics, ribbons and laces. I’ve been sewing 6 years. I was influenced by my mother Evelyn Inishinapay. She passed on 2022. I always watched her every time I visited her. That’s how I learned to do these things I make now. She inspired me so much, I’m busy when I make them.

We envision a future where the voices of Omushkegowuk creators (Oshichikesiwuk) are empowered and valued, ensuring a legacy of harmony between culture and sustainability that resonates through generations connected to the James Bay Coast (Nanipek).
